This years District Championships was hosted by Goondiwindi Golf Club and what a great turn up we had, Tuesday we held the Foursomes Championship with 130 ladies nominated great support from our District Clubs and visitors from Tenterfield and Armidale clubs. The winners were Samantha Hinze(Warwick) and Carmel Macdermott(Toowoomba) with 89 gross.The Nett winners were Kerri Peariman and Kaye Sage(Goondiwindi) with 71nett. Tuesday night was our annual dinner hosted at the club house with a beautiful meal and a fashion parade during dinner. The models selected from around the district by the Goondiwindi Ladies Golf Club put on an excellent display, modelling some beautiful outfits from selected businesses in Goondiwindi. This added abit of humour to our night as some of the ladies really strutted their stuff, thank you ladies you were all very brave job well done. Wednesday was the start of the individual championships with over 120 ladies nominated for the two day event. All divisions were strongly contested with a number of ladies on 71 nett at the end of our first day. The course was absolutely beautiful to play on, a real credit to the Goondiwindi Golf Club I would say one of the best in the district due to the recent rain they received.Thursday continued with some great golf displayed by all grades having some close finishes and a number of countbacks. We had a play off for the District Veterans Champion(Val Fooks Memorial Trophy) between Carmel Macdermott(Toowoomba) and Carol Champion(St George) the ladies played three holes but Carmel was the winner at the end, Carol put up a great fight, well done girls. On behalf of the District Committee I would like to congratulate all the winners and runners up, and all the ladies that travelled to Goondiwindi for the Championsips as without you all the event would not be so much fun. It's always good to see old and new faces at these events.
