Queensland Inter-District Match-Play Championships 4th-7th July 2016. The opening round of the 33rd Queensland Inter District Match Play Championship competing for the Junior Jug was played at the Gatton Jubilee Golf Club today in wintery conditions with our visiting team players certainly feeling the cold weather. Seven Districts, Far North Queensland, Golf North Queensand, Central Queensland/Central Highlands, Sunshine Coast Burnett, Women's Golf Gold Coast, Brisbane & District and the Downs & South-Western District played their opening rounds today with competitiveness. The locals (Downs & South-Western District) played their first match against Far North Queensland with a halved match, followed by Sunshine Coast/Burnett versus North Queensland also with a halved match and Central Queensland/Central Highlands against Brisbane and District continued the trend with a halved match. Gold Coast and North Queensland both had one bye today. This afternoon matches were a win to Sunshine Coast/Burnett and Central Queensland/Central Highlands, a halved match between Brisbane & District and Gold Coast. With our home District & Far North Queensland matches resulting in losses.
Tuesday 5th July The second round of the junior jug was played today with very wet conditions. The morning match was suspended after 9 holes due to a downpour. A composite course was used for the next 9 holes so play could resume. Central Qld/Central Highlands and Sunshine Coast/Burnett both having 1 bye each today. Morning Matches: Gold Coast played Central Qld/Central Highlands, which in resulted in a halved match. Each team gaining 2 points. Downs and South-Western played North Qld, with the home team having 2 wins giving them 4 points. The last game of the morning saw the match between Brisbane and District play Far North Qld with Brisbane and District winning both matches for 4 points. Afternoon Matches: Downs and South-Western played the Sunshine Coast/Burnett team with a tied match with both teams gaining 2 points. Far North Qld played Gold Coast with a win going to Gold Coast. Gold Coast adding another 4points to their score. Brisbane and District lost both matches to North Queensland.

Wednesday 6th July 2016 The third round of the junior jug was played today under very cold and windy conditions, Brisbane & District & Far North Qld both having 1 bye rounds today. Morning Matches: Far North Qld played North Qld with FNQ having 2 wins resulting in 4 points. Downs & South-Western played Gold Coast, Gold Coast won 1 match and squared 1 match, giving them 3 1/2 points to Central Qld/Central Highlands 1/2 point Afternoon Matches: North Qld played Central Qld/Central Highlands, with North Qld winning both matches giving NQ 4 points and Central Qld/Central Highlands 0 points. Brisbane and District played Downs and South-Western with both district winning a match each. The last game of the afternoon saw a win for Sunshine Coast/Burnett against Gold Coast, with Sunshine Coast/Burnett winning 1 match & squaring 1 match giving them 3 1/2 points and Gold Coast 1/2 point.

Thursday 7th July 2016 saw the final round of the Junior Jug played in continuing windy conditions. Congratulations to the winners Sunshine Coast/Burnett on a wonderful achievement,being the first time they have won it as their new district was formed with the amalgamation with the men's district. The home team (Downs & South-Western) had a bye on the final round. Central Qld/Central Highlands played FNQ with CQ/CH winning 1 and FNQ winning 1 giving them 2 points each. Brisbane & District played Sunshine Coast/Burnett coming away with also 1 win & 1 loss giving them 2 points each. The last games of the day between North Queensland and Gold Coast with these two teams also having 1 win & 1 loss. This resulted with 2 points each.
